At just on a year old Beau is at a great age. Past the messy puppy stage but with youth on his side and a long life ahead of him he promises to be a great companion.
Beau is super smart with keen focus. He likes to learn especially when there's a reward to follow. He already has some basic manners and is learning more each day in foster care. He is now toilet trained, walks nicely on lead, will sit for dinner (or a treat) and has learnt to not jump up on the humans. His recall skills are taking longer but we think this is because he isn't yet completely used to trusting people. Given time and guidance he will likely improve in this area.
Beau is friendly and playful with most dogs but can fixate a little on small fluffy dogs. For this reason he isn't suited to off lead dog parks. He loves active and boisterous play and would be a good mate for a robust and social dog. He prefers company so a canine companion would be suited if his people are out a lot or for long periods. Because of his slightly nervous nature he isn't suited to a home with young children. He isn't suited to a home with cats, chooks or pocket pets.
